The invalidation
Theoretically, a wudu can be performed for salat and this
wudu is considered valid for the rest of the day. However, certain acts
invalidate wudu (often referred to as "breaking wudu") and these can
be stated generically therefore:
Defecation, passing urination or gas
Semen emission
Sleeping while reclining
Vomiting
Loss of the senses
Fainting
Laughing loudly while in the Salat
Sexual contact with another person (ghusl is required)
Some Muslims consider that the actions below also voids the
wudu,
touching the private
parts with bare hands
Press your hands to the floor and touch the sides of your
hands.
Rub the right arm with the left hand, from the fingers to
the elbow and back along the inside of the arm to the hand. Do the same with
the other arm.
The same conditions that invalidate wudu also invalidate
tayammum. Also, a person's tayammum is invalidated as and when water is
available.
